The White Sox claimed first baseman Mike McDade off waivers from the Indians, according to the Tribe's official Twitter feed. They also announced outfielder Ezequiel Carrera cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A. The White Sox made room for McDade on the 40-man roster by putting Gavin Floyd on the 60-day DL, adds Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune. The Indians announced that they have designated outfielder Ezequiel Carrera for assignment. In a related move, the Tribe recalled left-hander Scott Barnes from Triple-A Columbus. The move marks the second time that Carrera has been designated for assignment by Cleveland this season. The Indians have claimed outfielder Ezequiel Carrera from Philadelphia, according to the Phillies. The Indians tweet that they have designated first baseman Mike McDade for assignment to make room for Carrera. Carrera, 25, went 1-for-13 in seven games with the Phillies. He has 362 career at bats, mostly with the Indians, in which he's hit .249/.304/.337. The Phillies designated him for assignment on Tuesday after claiming him from the Indians in April. McDade had been hitting .230/.305/.284 for Triple-A Columbus, but he hit .285/.360/.445 in the Blue Jays system in 2012. The Indians claimed him off waivers in November. -

The Indians announced that they have designated right-hander Fernando Nieve for assignment in order to clear roster space for Matt Albers (Twitter link). Nieve, 30, was signed to a minor league deal this past November. Nieve was called up after Albers was placed on the restricted list (which does not count against a team's 40-man roster) to tend to a family emergency. Here's a look at today's minor moves.. Right-hander Andrew Kown has been released from the Fresno Grizzlies (the Giants' Triple-A affiliate), the team announced on Twitter.
